The objectives of the course are:
- enhance safety, quality and technical know-how in structural steel construction;
- keep abreast of evolving procedures and standards;
- provide continuing professional development to support mandatory registration for practising certificates for all qualified Structural Steel Supervisors;
- promote self-regulation in the local steel industry.
CRITERIA TO BECOME STRUCTURAL STEEL SUPERVISOR (StS)
The StS Practising Certificate will be issued to individuals who complete and pass the written exam of StS Course & meet the following requirements:
- Holding a O Level / N Level / ITE + 5 years' working experience in the steel industry OR
- Holding a Degree / Diploma in Civil / Structural / Building / Mechanical / Marine / Aeronautical Engineering or National Certificate Course on Supervision (NCCS) / National Building Qualification (NBQ) Level 3.

CERTIFICATION FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL SUPERVISOR (STS) RENEWAL
BI-YEARLY REGISTRATION & CONTINUING EDUCATION
The practising certificate is valid for a period of two years.
Every Structural Steel Supervisor who wishes to renew his bi-yearly practising certificate must obtain at least 15 credit points or 15 ‘contact hours’ through a continuing education program tailored to their bi-yearly registration and practice.
